COSMIC Release v85

8 May 2018

The May COSMIC release (v85) is now live. There are 3 new fully curated genes, substantial curation updates for TERT, 1 new fusion pair, and 162 whole genome screened samples from 8 new systematic screen papers. We have also added 25 new genes to the Cancer Gene Census Hallmarks of Cancer and added a new track to the main Genome Browser which displays mutation recurrence.

New COSMIC file download service

8 May 2018

The COSMIC SFTP server sftp-cancer@sanger.ac.uk will be deprecated in August 2018.

We have a new file download service to replace our SFTP server to provide a simpler and more reliable download service. Files can be downloaded via a standard HTTPS request from any client to `cancer.sanger.ac.uk/cosmic/file_download`.

Downloading previous COSMIC releases

Research takes time, so it's not always possible to be making use of the latest version of COSMIC. As we've changed how programmatic file downloads work for the current release, there is also a new method for accessing archived releases.

COSMIC Release v84

The February COSMIC release (v84) has arrived! We have been focusing on curation, with 8 new genes, 2 gene substantial updates and a new fusion pair. There have been over 300 new genomes incorporated from 11 systematic screen papers, as have the updates from the ICGC release 26.
